Mellionnec Cultural Village in 2000

The french villlage Mellionnec was Cultural Village in 2000.
Mellionnec has 500 inhabitants. In order to be able to receive delegations from 10 countries, Mellionnec was looking for cooperation with its neighbour villages. So villages from different countries has been also the guests of Glomel, Canton de Maël-Carhaix, Lescouet-Gouarec, Languëlan, Plouguernevel, Rostrenen, Silfiac and Trémargat. In june the year has been opened with a international conference about Countrylife and environment. Representatives of eleven European villages where present. In august an international summercamp for the youth has been organised.

7 juin:

Visit to the European Parlement in Brussels

8 juin: Openingsceremonies of Cultural Village 2000

Reception of the delegations in Mellionnec and a first contact with the villages who will extend hospitality to them.

9 - 10 juin: Conference about country and environment

Topics were recycling, tourism, managment of country space, agricultural production, habitat, potable water, accessibility from villages to public services like transport, post and so on.

and with paintings made by children.
